Altai Republic. Hilly.
Its main quality are the Altai Mountains, on the UNESCO World Heritage List. I did not manage to see them, as there was no time, or really due to certain plans I made based on uncertainty how to get there.
I only ventured into the Altai Republic to see the total eclipse of the sun on 1 August 2008.
