Casamance. Uninviting.

Casamance, legally part of Senegal, has been struggling for independence for a long, long time. When the region got free from the French and the British, Senegal’s first president convinced the food-rich Casamance to join Senegal for 20 years, after which they will get their own state. This did not happen. The independence movement affects safety of the country. Yet, the beaches, mangroves, little creeks, lagoons and spectacular birdlife are Casamance’s very strong points.
