Comoros. Neglected potential.

Comoros are seriously under developed from the tourist infrastructure point of view. It has not always been like that. In the past, not so long ago, on the Grande Comore island, there were a couple of lovely and rather comfortable hotels. Both in the north by the country’s loveliest beaches. Now, nothing remains of one of them and almost nothing is left of the other. Very frustrating. Also the authorities do not seem to care about making sure the country’s heritage is properly taken care of, particularly the architecture. And this is odd. For the country applied to UNESCO to inscribe a few of the sites.

But, apparently, on the Moheli island, the infrastructure is still there and this is where the tourist normally go to see the cetaceans and turtles. I should have gone there to check this out. It was only about an hour’s boat ride away.

And yet, the country has a great potential due its heritage, landscape, and friendly population.
