Euskadi. Partying.

The Basque Country continues struggling for its independence. Sometimes violently, through activity often considered terrorist. Well, one can argue that it could also be viewed as an attempt of an uprising or an insurrection, to which occupied nations should have a moral right. Currently, Euskadi lies on the territory of Spain, and arguably partly of France.

The Basques speak unique language, origins of which are one of Earth’s greatest mysteries.

I only visited Bilbao. It is a lovely city. Modern and very well kept. Its old district is fabulous, however the most famous building of Bilbao is the museum of Guggenheim.

As I landed just after sunset, the city was like a beehive. People everywhere on a night-out. It was impossible to squeeze in at any of the countless tavernas, taparias and pubs. Although restaurants had not become busy until 9 p.m., and the night clubs much, much later, the party time was in the air! I must have passed a hundred of party places, usually concentrated on specific roads of the old district. There taparias streets, tavernas streets and night-clubs streets, which appeared to be specialising in one type of venue only. Yet, people (mostly youth) were still partying in the streets, under the bridges or simply by cars parked along the streets, cars blasting music from their sound systems.

It was great.
