Guyana

The former British Guyana is definitely more Caribbean than it is South American. English speaking and full of rum infested colour vibe that flows in people’s bloodstream.

Georgetown, the capital has a great collection of wooden colonial architecture, typical for British tropics. The town claims that their cathedral is the tallest wooden structure in the world.

Perhaps it is, perhaps it is not. But it looks great. The only drawback of Georgetown is the safety issue, as the town is not considered safe after 6pm. Not only for visitors. For locals, too.

The interior of the country boasts endless vast rivers that flow from south to north carrying loads of wildlife, and vessels looking for gold... and the jungle around is incredible and fascinating. True Amazonia.

Guyana. Riverbound.
