Madeira. Almost.

A small archipelago of islands, some 200 kilometres off Africa, currently dependent on Portugal, but with its own government and officially called an autonomous region. Two islands only are inhabited, the Madeira and Porto Santo.

I went for a weekend. Weather was really bad. It was darkly cloudy and it often rained. I slept in on Sunday, as it rained almost all morning. Then, I hired a taxi to take me around. This young gentleman took me. His name is Ze. We had a major communication problem. He only spoke the language that I did not - Portuguese. My Spanish helped little, and yet he must have been really impressed, because he left me his number for my future visits to the island!
