Morocco. Shocking Surprise.

The Kingdom of Morocco is one of Africa’s perfect destinations. The relative compact nature of its territory allows for skiing in the High Atlas, visiting the sandy desert dunes and bathing in the Atlantic in one day. It would be pushing it a bit, but it is possible. Great beaches, waterfalls, palm groves, eh.

I had heard that Morocco had become more commercialised since I visited it in 1996. So, I went back to Marrakech in 2013 to see what is different in the 21st century Morocco. The most striking difference was that the shop owners have become more relaxed and they no longer chase after the tourists, who might have shown interest and then walked away from the shop. But the medina has not changed since the early Middle Ages.
