New Caledonia.

Still featuring as French overseas territory, New Caledonia is a relatively large island just east of Australia. It is a popular holiday destination for the metropolitan French folk. I had no expectations of New Caledonia. I did hear that parts of it were posh and pretty.

I found it very relaxing with great facilities. It felt like 1980s southern France. I stayed at Le Meridien Noumea. My executive suite overlooking the ocean was all about colonial France, the wooden shutters, large windows. Noumea was great as well. It was a large place with districts that differ dramatically from one another. There were two large crescent beaches complete with beach bars and restaurants. There was a business district with offices and administration buildings. A busy port. And industrial section with factories, etc.
