Serbia. Dilemma.

Europe’s real trouble maker... appears to have a dilemma. The country would like to join the European Union, and in fact applied for membership, but it has to be prepared to recognise Kosovo, its breakaway province, as an independent state. Anyway, I only visited Belgrade and Novi Sad. Belgrade has one great sight, which is its citadel, complete with a fort. And potentially another one - the Sveti Sava Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the largest in the world.

Novi Sad is more pleasant. It is more compact and more picturesque. It has a couple of nice market squares, which Belgrade lacks, and its architecture at a smaller scale is cute. It also lies at the Danube and also has a citadel with a fort.
