Seychelles. Not so rich.

Seychelles are really a rather poor African country. Its nationals need to work hard to make the ends meet. The image of Seychelles that it is a paradise is fake. There a few luxurious hotels and spas situated on sandy beaches, but one has to venture really far for the more average ones. I only went to Mahe, the capital island, which does not boast the best beaches around.

La Digue, apparently, some 1.5 hours away by a fast ferry boat, has better and more dramatic beaches with more idyllic feel, smaller population and almost no traffic at all. Just cycles.

There is not that much to see from a cultural perspective on Seychelles’ islands, except Victoria on Mahe. It has a handful of colonial, creole and Hindu buildings, yet nothing really spectacular.
