Somaliland. Unrecognised.

When I went to Somaliland just before the end of 2007, it was still an unrecognised country. The international community and the United Nations still considered it to be the northern part of Somalia, world’s most dangerous country. However, Somaliland had been peaceful since 1991, had its own government, flag, currency, and did not want to have anything to do with Somalia and its war.

Somalilandese secret is prehistorical rock art left by farmers some 5000 years ago. It is probably the best preserved prehistoric rock art in the world. That was what I went to see.
