Trinidad. Humid.

Trinidad was hot! Hot and humid! I did not have much time to look around, because I was on a business trip. Of course it would be better to go to Trinidad while the worlds’ mother of carnivals takes place there, but hey, it was not up to me to choose the timing. I liked the lush surroundings and the grand architecture of the capital’s main park.

Tobago. Quiet.

I had never planned to visit Tobago. It was always associated with beach lounging holidays for the retirees. Something I am not ready for as yet. But when I mate decided to marry a Tobagonian girl, I ended up going. It was relatively quiet. Quieter than most other islands in the Caribbean of similar size, except perhaps Dominica. For some reason, the largest hotel, resort or spa chains gave Tobago a miss. There were no Hiltons, Marriotts, Westins, Sandals, etc. The beaches were not overcrowded, even at the weekend. The ‘Vegas Strip’ in Bon Accord, packing the largest condensation of bars, clubs and eateries on the island was just 200 yards long and there was only just a handfull of venues.
